Exhibition “ENERGY – WHAT MOVES US”

Presented by the City of Jena

Experience, understand, and help shape the energy transition—on this Sunday when stores are open, with hands-on activities as part of European Mobility Week. The exhibition “ENERGY – WHAT MOVES US” at the EnergieLabor at Löbderstraße 6 invites you to explore and get involved. It shows how sustainable mobility in neighborhoods and in everyday life, as well as charging infrastructure for e-mobility and energy management in public transit, are key building blocks for the city of tomorrow. At the hands-on activity “Test Your CO2 Footprint Leverage and Let the Sun Shine!”, visitors will learn in a fun way how their everyday mobility choices affect their personal CO2 footprint and how everyone can contribute to the energy transition.

Open House at Paradiesbahnhof – Guided Tour of the Construction Site

Presented by Jenaer Nahverkehr GmbH

We are renovating the track triangle at Paradiesbahnhof—610 m of track · 3 construction phases · at least 9 months of construction · €8.6 million investment. Starting in late June 2026, Jenaer Nahverkehr will be renovating the tram tracks around Paradiesbahnhof—statistically, a tram runs here every 100 seconds. After 30 years of operation, the infrastructure is worn out and in need of a complete overhaul. We’ll provide a behind-the-scenes look at the construction site and answer the many questions surrounding the project. Everyone interested is warmly invited!

Civic Courage in Public Transit – Us, Here and Now! 

An event organized by the City of Jena, the Anti-Discrimination Office, Jenaer Nahverkehr GmbH, Theater Q-rage, and the Police Counseling Center 

What can I do if a situation arises on a bus or train that requires me to intervene? How can I act safely without putting myself at risk? How should I behave as a witness? Hop on board and attend the prevention theater performance on the streetcar. In this 45–60-minute interactive performance by Theater Q-Rage, you’ll learn about civic courage—not just for your next ride on Jena’s public transit system. The event is supported by the Police Counseling Center of the Jena State Police Precinct. 

• Location & Time: Winzerla stop (turning loop); event hours 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., interactive theater performances at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m.

Discover Jena on Foot: Nature and Climate 

Presented by the Jena City Forestry Office, Environmental Education and Nature Experience Team 

We invite you to join us on a varied, approximately 6-kilometer hike through the impressive natural surroundings of Jena. Along the way, hands-on activities and fascinating insights into nature, the landscape, and the climate will provide variety and new perspectives. A special highlight of the program is a visit to the forum natura Nature Experience Center, where Jena’s new interactive 3D city model will be presented and can be tried out firsthand. Participation is free of charge. Note: Not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.

For anyone who wants to feel safer getting on and off buses and trains. Practice together, become safer together—with on-site support at the Burgau depot. Duration: 1.5–2 hours. Identification: inge & agathe safety vest.

Presented by the Jena Climate Protection Agency gGmbH & teilAuto eG 

Hands-on sustainable mobility: At selected charging stations, teilAuto and the Jena Climate Protection Agency will provide information about e-car sharing and charging electric vehicles. A teilAuto vehicle will be on display for visitors to view. Topics include booking, usage, the cooperative’s development, the further expansion of services, and the partnership with the municipal utilities. These free tours help reduce reservations (especially regarding electric cars).

An event organized by the VCD and Cornelia Förster, District Mayor of Jena Center 

Imagine being able to simply send your kids out to play in the street. It’s possible! And it’s happening on September 18, 2026, in the Damenviertel neighborhood. On this day, a section of Sophienstraße won’t belong to cars—it’ll belong to people. Everyone is warmly invited to join us that afternoon—to chat, play ball, and make music. Let’s build a stronger neighborhood! Among others, the city forestry department will be there with information booths and small activities for all ages.

Mobility Worldwide 

Presented by Eine Welt Netzwerk Thüringen e. V. in collaboration with iberoamérica e. V. 

In a relaxed atmosphere, you’ll learn a lot about the topic of global mobility. How important is mobility? What are the main modes of transportation in other parts of the world? How equitable is mobility? What does mobility have to do with access to education or gender equality? There will be brief presentations in the form of personal accounts and short videos. We’ll also take a look at the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Afterward, the event invites you to join in a discussion and share your experiences. Take advantage of your evening to get to know the JenErgieReal real-world energy transition lab, and discover at the Energy Lab at Löbderstraße 6 how sustainable mobility and the energy transition are interconnected in Jena. The exhibition shows how sustainable mobility in the neighborhood and in everyday life, charging infrastructure for e-mobility, and energy management in public transit are key building blocks for the city of tomorrow.

Since 2015, we’ve helped countless women on their journey to becoming confident cyclists. Women and girls, come by for a trial session! Poetry on Rickshaws—Poetic Recitals at Jena’s Landmarks

Presented by Radeln ohne Alter Jena e. V. 

Up to 8 passengers with limited mobility will be taken to various locations in Jena where they can enjoy culture, particularly in the form of poetry. We also visit places that can only be reached on foot or by bike, and we hope to welcome passengers who otherwise would not (or no longer) have this opportunity. The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours.

A tour guide and up to 7 passengers explore Jena by rickshaw. These rickshaw rides provide an opportunity for people who, due to limited mobility, cannot explore the city on foot or by bike. Tour duration: approx. 1.5 hours.
